During Covid-19 lockdown
in 2020, I solely produced my first 2D animated short for my story Tobi.
Tobi is a teenager who is facing hardship and as his life around him is falling apart, he is starting to slowly disappear.
I
designed Tobi’s character animation to fade away to illustrate the emotional
stress he endured throughout the story,
as it if to say Tobi’s existence in his world is at a threat and he has to
fight for his life back.
I was inspired to write this short story to raise awareness of the mental health struggles many young people go through especially when they are growing up in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances. I wanted to create this film to represent a more diverse culture in animation.
My film gained a nomination for best animated short at the Ealing Film
Festival in 2020.
