BREAST CANCER NOW:
INDEPENDENT MOTION DESIGN PROJECT



I designed an animation that reflected one of the stats about Breast Cancer for the charity, Breast Cancer Now. Below is my response to the brief, following their brand colour guidelines, mixing sound and integrating smooth animated transitions to accentuate the message:

I have included an additional message to the statistic in my animation (“The time to act is now”) and had a ticking stopwatch as the background sound. They both reinforce the message that if nothing is changed, then by 2030 Breast Cancer diagnosis rates will continue to grow. The repetitive sound of a ticking stopwatch highlights the

  •  The light pastel yellow background provides a warm feel/tone and also boldens the darker text, which is the most important message of this animation that needs to stand out. 

  • The stopwatch includes the symbol for women, as the dial, as the statistic specifically aims to address the concerns with female diagnosis rates. 

  • “Every 10 minutes” and “Every 8 minutes” are boldened in a brighter pink colour and are either introduced first or last in the text animation. This is so audiences are more aware of the time difference in diagnosis rates if nothing changes.
